Video: Predicting cherry tree bloom timing at the UW
Since 2018, a University of Washington research group has been monitoring campus blossoms from January to April with the goal of creating a model that will use weather data to predict the timing of peak bloom. The resulting study led by PhD student Autumn Maust will be published later in 2024. For the 29 iconic Yoshino cherry trees in the University of Washington Quad, peak bloom began the week of March 18.
