Beyond the Ten Essentials, how can you maximize the likelihood of a safe and enjoyable hike? Questions of how much to carry and how to identify doable hikes are especially important for hikers working with slightly older bodies. Avid, experienced hiker Tom Hinckley, professor emeritus in the School of Forestry, will describe each of his five steps for planning and preparing, using his own mistakes and experiences as illustrations.

Volunteers from UWRA’s birding group will brief you on the basics, then take small groups for short birding walks in Union Bay Natural Area.

Learn how to adapt to changing capacities in order to continue (or start!) to play music. Bring your instrument if you’d like a consult after the presentation.
